Unified PBX

Modern PBX admin, extensions, and call control on Asterisk

Unified PBX is the EAIBAP management console for extensions, trunks, IVRs, queues, and real-time call control. It shares the host Asterisk instance with Insurance ERP telephony and exposes APIs for provisioning and monitoring.

Business context

  1. Telephony teams still change extensions, trunks, and IVRs by editing raw Asterisk configs—slow, error-prone, and hard to audit.
  2. Unified PBX provides a modern admin console and API for provisioning, dial plan, queues, and operational dashboards on top of Asterisk.
  3. The live demo at /unifiedpbx/login runs the Next.js UI against Nest APIs under /unifiedpbx/v1 on the same eaibap.com host.
  4. It administers the PBX; it is not a full outbound contact-center SKU—that is UnifiedCX or EAIBAP campaigns depending on scope.
  5. Shares Redis, Postgres, and loopback Asterisk (AMI 5038, WebSocket 8088) with adjacent stacks on typical VPS deployments.

Product pillars

  • Extension, trunk, and DID provisioning
  • IVR, queues, ring groups, and dial-plan tooling
  • AMI/ARI integration for call control and monitoring
  • Operations dashboard and structured logging
  • API-first NestJS backend for automation and MSP embed

Who it is for

  • IT and telephony admins
  • Contact center operators
  • MSP partners

Key capabilities

  • Extension and trunk provisioning
  • IVR, queues, and ring groups
  • AMI/ARI integration with Asterisk
  • BullMQ jobs and Redis-backed workers
  • Optional Prometheus metrics on the same VPS stack

Provisioning and dial plan

Create extensions, assign DIDs, and publish dial-plan changes through a guided UI instead of hand-editing Asterisk configs for every change.

Operations dashboard

Monitor active channels, agent states, and queue depth. Restart stuck calls and trace failures from structured logs.

API-first architecture

NestJS API under /unifiedpbx/v1 with a Next.js admin UI. Suitable for embedding in larger deployments or white-label operator tools.

Shared infrastructure

Runs beside EAIBAP Docker Redis (DB 1), Postgres (Unified PBX database), and host Asterisk (AMI 5038, WebSocket 8088 on loopback).

System architecture

Next.js admin UI calls a NestJS API mounted at /unifiedpbx/v1. PostgreSQL stores provisioning and CDR-related entities; Redis and BullMQ run background jobs (reloads, sync, metrics). Asterisk is reached via AMI/ARI on loopback for channel control and queue state—not replaced by the app layer.

Key request flows

  • Admin creates extension → API writes DB → job triggers Asterisk config apply → endpoint registers.
  • Queue depth and active channels polled via AMI for dashboard tiles.
  • Optional Prometheus metrics on the same VPS stack for SRE visibility.

Frequently asked questions

What is Unified PBX compared to UnifiedCX?

Unified PBX is Asterisk administration and call control APIs. UnifiedCX is multitenant contact-center operations—campaigns, leads, agent panel—often on FreeSWITCH in the FsPBX stack. Pick PBX for infra; pick CX for dialer-first workflows.

How do I sign in to the demo?

Use Open Unified PBX demo (/unifiedpbx/login) with an admin account from your seeded environment—for example admin@example.com where configured.

Does Unified PBX replace Asterisk?

No. Asterisk remains the media switch. Unified PBX is the management plane and API layer on top.

Can Insurance ERP use the same Asterisk?

Yes on typical eaibap.com deployments: Insurance ERP WebRTC and Unified PBX can share one host Asterisk instance with separate app databases.

Is there a public API?

Yes—NestJS under /unifiedpbx/v1 for provisioning and monitoring, suitable for MSP automation or embedding in operator tools.
